Classic Touring Car Racing Club, CTCRC, meeting at  Silverstone on 4 & 5 October 2008, organised by the BARC

Neil didn't race at Silverstone as the Fiesta was still hors de combat after Pembrey and he decided to go trialling in Derbyshire with the rest of team 76 on Saturday as the Post Historic championship was already decided.

Post Historic

Win for Nigel Garrett

Steve Primett was third but this didn't effect the championship which he had already secured at Pembrey.

David Howard was on pole and led for the first lap before slipping back on the second lap and allowing newly crowned Post Historic champion Steve Primett into the lead in his Escort RS2000. Steve held the position until lap nine when Nigel Garrett slipped past in his rapid Dolomite Sprint. David Howard had climbed back through the field after his earlier misdemeanour, he managed to get past Steve on the last lap but stayed in front to take the chequered flag.

Group 1

Roger Stanford wins but Jim McLoughlin secures championship

This was a very wet race and it was touch and go if it ran, with rain, wind and a lot of standing water on the circuit.

David Howard was on pole but the big Jaguar was not at all at home with the slippery conditions and it was Roger Stanford who took an early lead, pulling away from second place man, David Hickton in his delightful Opel Ascona. As the race went on David got faster and passed Roger on the penultimate lap. However, Roger was out for his hat trick to repass on the last lap to take the flag.

Behind Jim McLoughlin was thinking championship and took it easy at the start to circulate second  in his class behind Alan Roper. This would have been sufficient to securte his crown but Jim is a racer and got past on the last lap to win his class and finish third overall.
