Vote for Guy

It's BBC Sports Personality of the year time again. No
balls this year, be they round or oval. No over-paid prima-donnas. The winner
should be a real modern motor-racing star, Bentley Boy Guy Smith who drove the
winning car across the line at this years Le Mans.
Guy worked his way up through the ranks of Karting,
racing single seaters in Europe and the USA before landing the Bentley drive.
With Bentley bowing out it would help Guy enormously to get the prime
publicity associated with BBC Sports Personality of the year.
Why am I asking you to vote for Guy? Because he deserves
it. He is a very skilled and professional racing driver but in todays
commercial world that isn't enough. He needs exposure and he deserves it. I
first met Guy when he was racing Formula Renault, but the occasion that shows
the man he is was when I took the family to watch him racing Formula 3 at
Donnington. Lesley was in the midst of her battle with "The Big C". The
chemotherapy was hell and she felt and looked absolutely terrible. It was
lunchtime and Guy should have been sitting quietly preparing for the race.
Seeing us and sensing all was not well he came over to chat and made a great
fuss of both Lesley and Richard, who was eleven at the time. After the race he
came to find us to give Richard a Baseball cap which made his day and more
important Lesleys as well. Guy deserves to do well and your vote for him in
the BBC Sports Personality of the Year will help.
