Robin Howard and Simon Robson made up for their disappointment's on the Edinburgh with Best Performance in National B and Clubmans respectively. John Parsons put on a great trial. Gill would have enjoyed it.
Duncan Welch won the Clubmans
Robin was closely perused by Arnold Lane on the first round. Both of them only failing to climb one hill with Robin getting just one mark less. Then Robin went completely clear on the second round, pulling away into a resounding lead he was to hold all day. This left Peter Manning to take the class D win with Colin Reid and Arnold Lane taking the other awards in National B. With Simon Robson winning the Clubmans on Index Michael Leete was first in class three with Old Spot Piglet creator Duncan Welch taking the other class win. Julian Robinson made his trials debut, sharing JAZ with Hazel MacDonald while Murray did a spot of marshalling.
We had quite a few retirements. John and Peter York had their Skodas electrics give up the ghost, Colin Stevens lost a long battle with his petrol pump on his Skoda convertible and Neil Bray broke the drive shaft joint on his Skoda. Former Skoda owner Fred Gregory didnt want to be left out so he and Pete Stafford cooked the clutch on their MG Maestro. Christine Manning organised a successful raffle that raised £127 for Gills Hospice and her daughter Liz presented the awards. It was a quiet ending to the day. It seemed so strange not to see her standing in the door of the caravan. We missed her terribly.
